Mel Gibson is optimistic about commencing production on The revival of Christ anticipated to occur next year. This film is a continuation of The Passion of the Christ, a venture that Gibson has dedicated several years to developing, and it appears that he is finally poised to start the filming process. The screenplay, co-written by Gibson with his brother and Randall Wallace, has faced multiple delays and has taken nearly seven years to finalize.
Gibson expressed his anticipation, stating a desire to begin filming next year. He described the project as quite extraordinary, sharing that the narrative resembles a remarkable adventure unlike any he has experienced in the past.
The film is ambitious in scope, illustrating events from the fall of angels up to the passing of the last apostle. Gibson has also revealed that de-aging technology will be employed for actor Jim Caviezel, who reprises the role of Jesus.
He noted that he, his brother, and Wallace have collaboratively put forth their ideas, resulting in some remarkable concepts, albeit some may be perceived as unconventional. To effectively narrate this story, Gibson believes starting with the fall of angels is essential, which introduces a different reality and involves the darker realms such as hell and Sheol.
Gibson underscores the necessity for meticulous preparation to tackle the ambitious nature of the film. While he acknowledges the potential difficulties in realizing this vision, he remains hopeful that the final product will resonate powerfully with audiences worldwide.
