Kingmakers Trailer Unveils Adrenaline-Pumping Siege Warfare with Modern Twists
21 May 2024
My excitement reached new heights for the strategy game I have been eagerly waiting for, especially after witnessing the arrival of the tank.
At the start of this year, I implored folks to give their attention to the initial 24 seconds of a preview for my most awaited strategy game set for 2024. The developers have now returned, presenting an even more sensational trailer than before.
In February, Kingmakers unveiled itself with a promotional video that cleverly concealed its essence at first. The beginning 23 seconds depicted what seemed like the epitome of medieval strategy gameplay - reminiscent of Mount & Blade with elements of Age of Empires - before transitioning in an unexpected leap through time, showcasing a solitary soldier disrupting an ancient battlefield with his modern rifle. It's an experience that truly has to be seen to grasp fully.
With its latest trailer, Kingmakers elevates its previous presentation. It starts with an adrenaline-pumping sequence of motorbike chases that would impress even the protagonists of GTA, escalating quickly as our heavily armed protagonist launches grenades at a structure.
The game showcases impressive destruction physics, managing to track numerous non-player characters across its expansive map, but Kingmakers doesn't stop there in escalating the conflict. Seemingly insufficient in firepower before, the hero reenters the battleground in an advanced modern tank, effortlessly demolishing the enemy's wooden defenses.
Drawn from the lesson of the Three Little Pigs, if a house of sticks could not provide shelter, perhaps a brick one would. Yet, in the world of Kingmakers, even a brick fortress stands no chance against the formidable blast of a contemporary tank, spelling doom for the castle at the battlefield's margin. Each shot fired from a distance signifies the imminent fall of another tower, suggesting this siege might conclude more swiftly than anticipated.
Kingmakers aims for a Steam Early Access launch later this year, though a specific release date remains undecided. As previously mentioned in February, I plan to be part of the experience from the initial day.
It might just be time to reserve a spot on our list of the top strategy games in anticipation.
