Lost Records: Bloom and Rage Developer Aiming for “Slightly More Interactive” Dialogue System

Set to release in late 2024, the narrative-driven title "Lost Records: Bloom and Rage" by DON’T NOD Montreal promises an enhanced dialogue system that aims to make conversations feel more natural and impactful. This game follows its characters through two distinct timelines, the summer of 1995 and the year 2022, with player decisions influencing the narrative across both periods.

Michel Koch, the creative director at DON’T NOD Montreal, shared insights with CG Magazine, revealing their intent to evolve the dialogue system based on previous experiences. The game emphasizes the importance of communication, allowing players to expertly navigate conversations using their environments to introduce new topics and decide the timing and nature of their responses. This approach borrows elements from games like Oxenfree, where character interactions flow seamlessly, reinforcing the feeling of engaging with a dynamic group of friends.

"Lost Records: Bloom and Rage" maintains the essence of DON’T NOD’s storytelling but enhances player involvement by providing tools for interaction and investigation within the game world. Koch emphasizes that the game's focus isn’t just on offering numerous endings or replayability for its own sake. Instead, it seeks to ensure that each playthrough is profound and personal, reflecting individual choices in molding the protagonist Swann's journey and her relationships.

Regardless of whether players choose to explore different narrative paths, the aim is that every playthrough delivers a complete and satisfying story experience rich in exploration, dialogue, and character development. This will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, incorporating innovative mechanics that contribute to both solving puzzles and unfolding the storyline.
