Diablo 4 Season 5 Brings Major Overhaul to Unique Items and Welcomes New Spiritborn Class

Diablo fans have plenty to look forward to with the upcoming Season 5 update for Diablo 4. The latest patch notes promise significant changes to Unique and Mythic Unique items in a way that will make them feel notably different from their pre-Season 5 versions. This comprehensive overhaul will include a before and after comparison for nearly all of these powerful items.

The scope of Season 5’s public test realm (PTR) updates has been teased since the June Campfire chat, where new endgame features, a roguelike mode, and re-playable bosses were discussed. In addition, global community development director Adam Fletcher has confirmed that the patch notes will include changes affecting almost every Unique and Mythic Unique item in the game.

Fletcher shared that the development team is working hard to provide a side-by-side comparison for all these items, making it easier for players to see how their favorite gear has changed. While it wasn't laid out precisely how this would be formatted, the detailed comparisons will likely be available for easy reference at the bottom of the Season 5 patch notes.

As we approach the final Diablo 4 Season 5 Campfire livestream, which will cover all post-PTR changes, more details are expected to emerge. Players can anticipate new activities like Infernal Hordes, an intensified version of Helltides, and an even scarier iteration of The Butcher.

Season 5 will kick off on August 6, immediately following the conclusion of Season 4. Shortly thereafter, the game will see its first major DLC, the Vessel of Hatred expansion, which introduces the series’ first new mainline class in a decade. More details on this new class, Spiritborn, are available, including an in-depth preview detailing its capabilities.

The Spiritborn class was fully unveiled recently, and thanks to a dedicated fan's extensive 37-page document, all aspects of this new addition are thoroughly documented for those looking to get ahead of the curve.
